A New Year

     I was waiting on my sister to send me a New Year commentary but she hasn’t yet, so I thought I would just do my own. 
   When I think about this past year, I think wow how time has flown by. God has richly blessed us this past year and his love is awesome.
   When you look at the year on a larger scale, a worldly scale it is quite scary. Elections coming up, the Mayan prophesy that is sure to bring about some scares the closer into the year it gets. Some people will actually be terrified as the year goes on and the closer to next December it gets. Newscasters say that we could possibly going back into recession if not depression and here we go again. 
  Not to mention the terror and calamity Satan has presented and put in our homes, breaking marriages, wayward children, such a rebellious, heart sickening sight if you concentrated on it.
 Be sober be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8
 Satan’s object is to hurt and destroy and oppress Christians so that they cannot be effective thus sending a message to the lost that they are in no way better than them.
   
    Well I have a challenge for you, Go back to the enemy camp and claim what he took from you.If it’s a failed marriage and you can’t technically go take that person back, take back the hurt, the jaded love and forgive, yes I said FORGIVE. Don’t harbor things in your heart that will separate you from God. I often think about the scripture in Romans chapter 8 that says nothing can separate you from God and it can’t, but YOU can separate yourself from God because we have all been given free will and choice and You choose how close or how far away you want to keep him. Sadly enough some choose to not walk with him at all. Today is a new day, a new year, choose to have a pure heart, strive to have a pure heart, you can with his help.
Last but not least I want to encourage you with hope this year. Hope that does not Disappoint. !! Romans 5 :1-5
        1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
    When I read the 5th verse that says and this hope will not lead to disappointment, because we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Allow that in your heart, his love, ask for a pure heart this year, cling to his promises and allow him to transform you in 2012.

  Hold your head up high and walk like a child of a king. Claim your inheritance of the King !!

Just One Towel in this Privileged Life.

 I was joking with my niece the other day about the kids keeping their towel that they swim with and re-using it. She joked back and said and you get one towel for the shower all week too.  I am sure I might have said that at some point. Encouraging less waste and holding on to your towel and using it more than once.  Maybe it is unusual in this privileged life we lead.  Yes I said privileged life as we have so much here in America, we waste so much and it's okay that is what we do. But is it really? I recently got to travel and let me tell you we stayed at an AIR BNB which was someone's home and guess how many towels they gave us for a 3 day stay? 1 towel each. Not per day, but for the whole stay. I have stayed with others who also do that. So it isn't uncommon in other countries or in this country to use one towel for a few days.  So I started thinking what else... well in other countries  It isn't uncommon to ride public transportation all over everyday.  A majority

The garden of life..

As I was doing my devotion this morning, lots of things on my mind and as I was writing my prayers I wrote something like this... As I stumble through the weeds and briers of life dear Lord, please help me see the flowers among all the brush, help me to come out unharmed, unscratched and with the hope only you can give. I began to think how life is like that. Often coming upon obstacles that knock our feet out from under us and how we must go on and do the best we can. Each day IS NEW and we choose how we re-act to all the briers and weeds that try to smother out the sunshine. Hoping that bud underneath will bloom into the beautiful flower it could be.    As I began to pray, I thought about my husband and how he is such a blessing to others. How people want to glean from his happiness, his joy and want to be in his presence because of the positive vibes, good counsel and hope that he has. I am thankful for him and what he stands for!! What Matters in the end...

I recently was asked to give my testimony. I really do not like doing it because it makes me feel like I am giving a history of my life basically. With all the dysfunction and problems exposed and out in the open. But more importantly than the vulnerability is the fact that I really do not want people to feel sorry for me. The look in their eyes when I give my testimony is something I would really rather not see. I tell myself though by giving my testimony I might help someone else along the way who might be dealing with or have dealt with some of the same things I am. This time though, I did it a little different. I gave God the glory and reminded everyone that my story is really His Story in that he did an amazing work in me. I say that because I remember where he brought me from. Do you remember where he brought you from? I like the scripture "he brought me out of the miry pit" Psalm 40:2.
